Charters Towers - An Outstanding Location For Your Next Holiday

Charters Towers is an independent city within the Charters Towers Region of central Queensland, Australia. It's located at the mouth of Flinders Highway, approximately 132 kilometres east of Brisbane. In the last census the population was approximately 8,000.

As it is isolated, it is not affected by the major cities like Brisbane or Sydney. In fact it's not connected to any other state or territory. It's located about one hour north of Adelaide, in the far north eastern part of Australia. It's been named after the company, The Charters Tower Company, which operated a railway line that linked Cairns and Charters Towers, throughout Queensland in the late 1800's.

Charters Towers also serves as the headquarters for a local fishing club. The club, known as Charters Fishing Club, is located about half an hour south of Charters Tower. If you would like to spend some quality time in the outdoors, you can try going camping or hiking with a campervan charter.
